The Clerk Signet approached me about creating an Award of Arms as a special request. I was given the usual information and a list of things the recipient likes. I chose the Mira Calligraphiae as a base for the scroll and added a couple details of my own. The cadel and the flowers are from the Mira, but the bees and the cat were taken from real life pictures and done in the style to match the flowers. The hand I chose was a Batarde as it was one of the many hands in the book.
The original was likely done on a parchment, with iron oak gall ink and period pigments done with either a glair (egg white) or a tempera (egg yolk). I chose to do it on pergamenta with finetec gold and a mix of gouaches from Windsor Newton, and M. Graham. The ink was my usual doctored Higgins.
