Twenty years ago, my Knight, Duke Logan Ebonwoulfe and his then Queen, Duchess Arielle the Golden, started two Pennsic institutions: The Children's Fete, and the Known World Squires' Tournament. Last year was my first Squires' Tourney scroll which was also for the SCA 50th anniversary and I did a Black Hours style with all the Kingdoms marked on it. This year due to modern life, I needed to do something a little more simple, but I still wanted it to be flashy and special. The completed size of the scroll was roughly 2 1/2 feet by 3 1/2 feet. Done on pergamenta with gouache, finetec golds, and my usual doctored ink. I had to actually lay on the scroll to do the calligraphy. I took two different pictures of Duke Logan and Duchess Arielle and put them together to get my exemplar for the portrait inside the cadel and designed the belt for around the wording. In progress pics and close ups below.
