While I love to do scrolls for anyone and everyone, it's really fun to get to do one for someone you know. When I was asked to do the Kraken for Vinnie, I was picking through a lot of manuscripts, but nothing really spoke to me. Then I saw a picture of him and his lovely lady and decided to give pen and ink a go. I tried to style it after the manner of Albrect Durer, and matched a cadel and the batarde hand with it.
The final image was I believe was on an 8"x10" piece of perg with a 2" border all round for the final project. I used a crow quill nib for the illumination with Noodler's Bulletproof black ink, and finetec gold for the accents on the Kraken and the cadel. Sadly I don't believe I got any in progress images, just some closeups. (There was an issue with the memory card in my camera.)
